Usually, I get an average of B only and I could count my students who achieved A+ grade. I'm not sure if my teaching skill is improving or my last batch of students is just outright brilliant. I guess it's agreeable that when the teacher is professional, the student will also become professional -- it depends on the student.
"Daddy, you're the best! And if anyone claims that you're a boring professor, I'll make sure to swing a steel chair on that someone." I feel alive!
Of course she didn't tell me that I'm a lousy professor. She's my daughter and I love her dearly. Them kids don't know how parents feel when they are told that their children love them. It's revitilizing and all tension go away. I actually feel a lot younger, ready to run the marathon, eat pizza and junkfood, play videogames, do sky-diving, whenever my daughter tells I love you, daddy.
"I heart you too, Sarah."

when I think about it

My summer break's over as well. Damn. In a blink of an eye, it passed. And I was just starting to enjoy it. To think that the students of Toudai are the only people who have the right to complain, us professors get bummed too, you know.

Class registration has already begun. I'm one of the volunteers who will assist freshmen and upperclassmen alike. Frankly speaking, I'm not in the mood to hold a chalk yet -- nor this pen. I don't want to wake up early yet.

Lucky for me, I've got my Sarah to wake me up everymorning. When she does that, it motivates me to go to work, so there's really no problem.
"Oyasumi nasai." However, I can't rest easy knowing that I still have students in my class who didn't make it. Sigh.

"Alright. For those who has a failing grade, see me after class." sigh. I have to tell everyone these words every year.

It never happened in my career, as a teacher, not a single year, to just let everyone go home without any problems after the last day of class. I have to utter them to see me after class and tell them to have a special removals test. Well, it can't be helped, I guess. Blaming them for failing won't help getting this over . Still, they might have a chance if I give them a re- test. I'm saying they might. What happened? Well, the class got a very... unsatisfying grade, except for one individual -- Keitaro Urashima. Unfortunately for Naru... Uh, how should I say this? She flunked the surprise exam.

Both of them are taking my Archaeology Subject but at different timeslots. Despite the fact that I've given the same questions, I could only imagine how she'd react with the result. That way, I could ask how Sara's doing. It's also easier when you know someone close in your class.

Naru told me that he's not doing very well here in Toudai. However, I highly doubt that what she said is true. In fact, Keitaro's doing quite well in my class.

Take note: He's the manager of the Hinata Sou and he's also a Tokyo U student. You could only imagine how hard the pressure is for Keitaro. He needs to understand that he can't win them all.

I'm not saying to drop his studies or quit being manager -- that would be a folly. He needs to take it easy -- one at a time. He's really quite a fine individual.

Whenever he blames himself for failing an exam, it only becomes harder for him to see his true value; It makes it harder for him to see that he's really topnotch. I'd like him to maintain his confidene, composure, diligence and focus. Some people loss their edge because of a single mistake. They later loss confidence and the will to go on. Then, suddenly everything stop. It's such a waste. I don't want that to happen to Keitaro or to anyone else.

Keitaro is a tenacious student. I know that he won't give up everything. I know he'll realize that it's not yet the end of the line.

Now when one gives up... That'll mark the end for one.

character: Seta Noriyasu

Noriyasu Seta (Seta Noriyasu) is a Tokyo University graduate and professor there who specialises in archaeology, appearing to be a parody of Indiana Jones. Like Keitaro, he was a third-year Ronin. He's clumsy (especially with women), a terrible driver, and an exceptionally skilled martial artist, all partly due to his complete lack of self-preservation. Invariably and ironically, Keitaro comes to mimic him in many aspects by the end of volume 14.

Seta spends a good deal of his time traveling the world on one expedition or another. His goal seems to be to find evidence of an ancient turtle civilization that once flourished in Japan. During the course of his excavations near the Hinata Beach Tea House in the anime, he uncovered an ancient stage where, he theorized, the ancient inhabitants once performed plays devoted to the gods. After the destruction of the Hinata Beach Tea House during the Urashima family traditional play production, Seta offered to let them use the ancient stage for their play in exchange for a role in the play (Journey to the West.) What was intended to be a mock battle became fiercely real, unfortunately, and the stage was ruined. A hot water geyser surfaced from under the stage, forming a very large new hot springs bath. Haruka was able to recover the costs of rebuilding the Tea House by charging admission to the bath.

Seta is also something of an adventurer, and possesses a van that shares his indestructible nature, and apparently has a submarine mode. In the past, Haruka had a major crush on him, though he seemed oblivious. They went on many expeditions together, which are alluded to often in the manga. He had a child with Sara's mother, an American, who later died. Her last request was that Seta marry Haruka. This wish was granted, and Haruka and Seta married at the ruins of Todai, capital of the Turtle civilization.

Seta is Sara's guardian, and she refers to him as "papa."
